In Journeymen Wrestling Club’s short tenure, we have played a vital role in helping local athletes reach their goals – no matter what the size. Since there isn’t a collegiate wrestling program in the Capital Region, NY, our athletes need to leave the area in order to wrestle. With that said, the club has prioritized getting wrestlers in the college ranks. We work tirelessly to help wrestlers
through the arduous recruiting process and help promote them to their respective college of choice. Several of our athletes have gone on to be Sectional, State, and National Champions, while others have defined success by making their high school team or winning their first competitive match. Case in point – In November of 2004, Journeymen Wrestling club was an integral part of MTV’s hit show MADE, show 507. The show MADE takes one willing candidate and has them embark on a mission to transform his or her life. Whether it’s to become a varsity wrestler, a BMX biker, or a surfer, each teenager has a dream to break out of their shell and find out who they really are. Sometimes the candidate makes it, sometimes not, and sometimes they realize they had what they wanted all along. The show was an enormous success. It showed the general public that the sport of wrestling was a great tool to build self esteem and confidence – no matter who you are. This truly exemplified our club and the philosophy Journeymen Wrestling stands for. |
